Does our health system put Maori at a disadvantage?

Maori are twice as likely to die from advanced cancer. It's a hard truth, and one that has gone ignored in this country for what seems like decades.

Statistics in this country show again and again that Maori suffer from worse health care than other New Zealanders.

The mystery behind why will be now be investigated by Parliament after the Maori affairs select committee announced it will hold an inquiry into Maori health inequalities.

The inquiry will focus on the Government drug-buying agency Pharmac.
