Seedlip: The espresso martini perfect for Dry July

What do you drink when you're not drinking?

It's a question that resonates with so many, be they pregnant women or someone regretting their spontaneous Dry July commitment. While there are options like that fifth glass of Diet Coke or maybe a hideously overpriced mocktail - which makes you feel like a five-year-old at a party and also tastes that way - sometimes you want something a bit more adult, like the tang of a gin and tonic, or the smoothness of an espresso martini.

Seedlip, the world's first non-alcoholic spirit, is here to help.

Blended and bottled in England, Seedlip has zero calories, is sugar-free, sweetener-free and artificial flavour-free and is available in two varieties - Garden 108 and Spice 94.

The spirit is based on the distilled, non-alcoholic remedies from The Art of Distillation, written in 1651, now re-purposed to solve the dilemma of how to elegantly handle a sober night out. It's a dilemma many people seem to be embracing - especially, believe it or not, millennials.

In the UK for example, a survey found one in five millennials choose not to drink at all, while 66 percent claim alcohol isn't important to their social lives. Shape magazine reports more people in their 20s and 30s are cutting back on alcohol, much in the same way they treat processed foods or preservatives. Google searches for "benefits of quitting drinking" increased by roughly 70 percent in the past five years.

In 2015, the first 1000 bottles of Seedlip were hand-bottled, hand-labelled and hand-delivered to Selfridge's of London, the brand's first major retailer. That first batch sold out within the three weeks. A second shipment sold out in three days, and a third batch sold out in 30 minutes.

Seedlip is now served in more than 150 Michelin-starred restaurants and is also stocked in more than 2000 bars globally.

If you're doing Dry July or just want to give your kid a "bougie" after-school treat (please note that is tongue-in-cheek and we don't recommend giving your child this much cold-brew coffee), here's a recipe for an espresso martiNO (haha).
