Viagra could help women give birth more easily

  • 04/07/2018

Viagra, the drug that helps men overcome sexual malfunction, is turning out to be remarkably useful for women about to give birth.

It might sound strange, but sildenafil - commonly known as Viagara - could make childbirth safer by improving blood supply to the placenta.

The extra oxygen carried in that blood improves the health of the child inside, and reduces the risk of the baby becoming stressed during delivery.

In Australia, it's almost halved the need for emergency caesareans.

In a new trial with the drug there was almost a 50 percent reduction in women needing an emergency C-section.

If the results of the trial continue to be positive, more women could receive the drug during childbirth.

The drug that can help to create new life is now helping to deliver it.
