A beauty salon owner in Thailand has posted a terrifying warning to those who think they can use regular household superglue in place of eyelash glue when applying falsies.

According to the owner of Fara Beauty Salon, one client came into the salon with her eyes sealed shut following the application of lash extensions with superglue to get them removed.

In a video she posted to Facebook, the technician applies an oil to break down the glue, then picks out each individual lash. The end result? Severely inflamed eyes - and almost no lashes left.

As it turns out, it's not that uncommon.

In July, a woman from Sao Paulo, Brazil, stuck her eye shut after using superglue to stick on her false lashes, the Sun reports

The woman reportedly screamed she was blind and posted images to social media of her eye glued shut.

Lash expert to the stars Clementina Richardson told Popsugar that when applying lashes you need to address the obvious - glue and lashes don't mix.

"Damage to the natural lashes is the result of improper application, or the stylist not selecting the correct type of lash for an existing one," says Richardson.

She added that extensions should only be attached to the natural lash - not the skin - one strand at a time.
