'I've never felt more disabled': The shocking reason Aussie was denied Eiffel Tower access

A one-legged Australian performer has shared her disbelief after being denied access to two iconic Paris attractions.

Roya Hosini, whose stage name is Roya the Destroya, is from Melbourne but is based in Belgium, and works with theatre production company FRONTX.

She travels the world performing a number of circus stunts. But on a recent trip, she was barred from the Eiffel Tower and the city's catacombs.

In a Facebook post, Ms Hosini explained how she had purchased tickets for both locations but both lots of staff denied her entry.

"[It's] all due to legalities and a small phrase or clause written on a piece of paper," Ms Hosini's post reads. "I've never felt more disabled in my life than these type of moments.

"First it was the Eiffel Tower that denied me access to the top due to safety of others in case of emergency evacuation. Now it's the (catacombs) denying me entry basically due to being 'handicapped'."

She watched with disappointment as others were allowed to visit both attractions, she told the ABC.

A spokesman for the Catacombs apologised for the way Ms Hosini was treated.

"We do not tolerate this kind of behaviour; on the contrary, we try to welcome everybody in our sites," the spokesperson told the ABC.
