Adidas recalls childrens' swimwear over safety concerns

Adidas has announced it is recalling a line of swimwear products after customers and a third-party investigation cited safety concerns.

Adidas recommends that purchasers of the Infinitex 3-Stripe range of swimwear worn by children up to the age of 14 return the products to an Adidas store or authorised dealer for a full refund or contact Adidas for a product voucher.

The swimwear is sold in New Zealand.

Harald Habermann, Vice President product operations, advanced creation at Adidas says the recall is a "precautionary measure," and that sales of the affected product will stop immediately.

The stripes have been reported by customers to come off in water and a third-party investigation cited safety concerns due to the possibility of the stripes becoming tangled with objects or with other children.

"The safety of our consumers is our highest priority,"Mr Habermann said.

"We continue to be committed to quality and apologise for any inconvenience this safety notice may cause to consumers."
