The popularity of meal-kit food delivery services has risen, as time-poor Kiwis look for ways to cut dinner time in half.

But they also make it easy to decide what to eat as new research reveals Kiwis are overwhelmed by the abundance of conflicting nutritional advice.

On Tuesday WOOP delivery boxes introduced their new Balance Box - a meal service based on the Mediterranean style of eating for those wanting to introduce healthier habits.

The meal-kit contains lean, high quality animal protein, healthy fats from plants, nuts and seeds, and carbs mostly from vegetables, whole grains and dairy. They say the boxes have no additives, preservatives or refined sugars, tand can be prepared in less than 20 minutes.

Food and nutrition writer Niki Bezzant helped develp the boxes, which she calls "anti-diet".

"People are vulnerable to the lure of fad diets, even though we know diets don't work. And much of the information we see about healthy eating is conflicting. Should you love fat, or hate it? Are carbs evil or will they make you live longer? What about meat or dairy? It can be very confusing, when eating well should be simple," she says.

"WOOP Balance is an anti-diet. I was delighted to be a part of something designed to make eating well simple for the many people who find it a bit overwhelming knowing where to begin."

Thomas Dietz, founder of WOOP says they're trying to counter the "conflicting messages about the best way to eat".

"Even if you do figure out what you're 'supposed' to be eating, all the planning, prep and cooking can take so much time and effort that it's easy to fall off the wagon," he explained.

"That's why we've created WOOP Balance - it's for people who are time poor, but choice rich and determined to embrace a healthier lifestyle.  We have worked hard on developing recipes that are nutritionally balanced, flavoursome and easy to prepare, and believe we have reason to celebrate!"

WOOP currently delivers in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua and Palmerston North with more delivery areas being announced soon.

Boxes start from $92.
