Advertisement posted for 'summer boyfriend' at Auckland University

It can be tough finding a summer job and sometimes it feels like you'll just take anything - but maybe think a bit before applying for this one.

An advertisement seeking a 'Summer Boyfriend' has been posted on a notice board at Auckland University, from a totally legit-looking company calling itself $ugardaddyapplications Ltd.

"If you're looking to make a positive change in your work life, have loads of energy, [you're] physically strong and capable and possess excellent to management skills - then this could be the right job for you!" the notice reads.

"We're looking for a reliable honest person with a good dose of common sense to take on the role of Summer Boyfriend, which plays a key role in our busy team."

The advertisement tells potential applicants they'll provide emotional support for various, multiple employees, and lists some personal attributes they'll need to be considered.

  •  Must be willing to execute managing director's plans
  •  A full, clean driver's license
  •  Be a dog lover (having regular access to a dog is a plus)
  •  Not an engineer - this is a non-technical role
  •  Good communications skills, i.e. not an engineer
  •  Has financial security
  •  Does not whiteboy dance
  •  Not an engineer
  •  Be a problem solver and not afraid to ask questions (unless they disagree with the managing director)

Applicants for the summer boyfriend gig are asked to email the advertiser a 500-word cover letter, CV, photo of profile side view, screenshot of bank account(s) and an Instagram URL link.

A photo of the poster was posted to the 'Overhead @ University of Auckland' Facebook page, where it's so far garnered over 600 likes and over 200 comments, which are mostly people tagging in their friends to apply.

According to the photo, nobody so far has taken a rip-off tab with the contact details - so the position may still be open, for anyone keen.
