Cosmopolitan and Neutrogena are in hot water after the magazine posted a promotion of the skincare company's new, individually-wrapped cleansing wipes to their Facebook page.

The magazine's social media posted an image of the bag of 20 plastic wrapped towelettes, alongside the article's headline; 'Neutrogena's individually wrapped makeup-remover wipes are a game changer'.

"Whaaaaaat?" Cosmo captioned the post.

The bag of wipes from Neutrogena contains 20 wipes, reportedly selling for US$6 each. "I've never been more excited to take my makeup off" the article's sub-heading reads.

But the public had different feelings, slamming both the magazine and the skincare company for promoting such a "wasteful and ridiculous" product.

"Oh look, plastic in plastic in plastic, it's plastic inception," wrote one commenter, who garnered almost 5000 likes."Killing the earth to save people from the hard work of finding both water and cloth."

"Neutrogena this is so wasteful and ridiculous, literally what the f**k," anther wrote.

"This is the most unnecessarily wasteful thing I've ever seen in my life. Smdh."
