A US bride has shared a series of heartbreaking photos depicting her alongside her fiancé, who was killed in a motorcycle accident earlier this year.

Debbie Gerlach posed in her wedding gown for a photo shoot with photographer Kiristie Fonseca, who later photoshopped in images of Gerlach's fiancé Randy Zimmerman.

The pair was supposed to be married on November 11, but Zimmerman, or 'Z', tragically died in February.

"Today was supposed to be the day I married my best friend. I was supposed to wake up, put on my wedding dress and walk down the aisle to the man of my dreams," Ms Gerlach wrote on Facebook.

"But today I woke up alone as I do every day. Today I woke up with my heart broken all over again.

"Today I will not get to see the look on Randy's face at the end of that aisle when he gets his first look at me in my wedding dress, the dress I had to hide from him because he couldn't wait to see it."

Instead Ms Gerlach posed in that dress alone, with Fonesca editing in shots of Zimmerman standing alongside her, or kissing her cheek. In one photo Gerlach holds the 'Z'-engraved urn with Zimmerman's ashes in it and kisses it, with her fiancé sitting on his motorcycle in the background.

Photographer Kristie Fonseca told Yahoo Lifestyle she's had some experience photoshopping late loved ones into pictures she's taken.

"When I first spoke with Debbie, she told me her tragic story and asked if I was able to insert her fiancé into what should have been their special day. A special day that was carelessly stolen from her," Fonseca said. "After listening to her heart-breaking story I just knew I had to do something very special for her."

Gerlach finished her Facebook post with an appeal for drivers to watch out for motorcycles.

"Stop at stop signs and drive with care, because you never know whose whole world is on that bike," she wrote.

"Maybe if that person stopped, I'd be marrying my Randy, my best friend, the love of my life."

The post has so far garnered over 300,000 reactions and 31,000 comments on Facebook.
