Porn site hits back at Starbucks over adult content ban

A popular porn website has banned its staff from drinking Starbucks, after the coffee chain said it was banning customers from watching porn on its in-store Wi-Fi.

"In light of the news that Starbucks has blocked customers from searching and viewing adult content within their establishments, Starbucks products will officially be banned from the YouPorn offices, effective January 1, 2019," YouPorn vice president Charlie Hughes said in a memo to staff, Forbes reports.

Starbucks made the first move following years of complaints, including accusations paedophiles and sex offenders had been using the chain's free Wi-Fi to download and watch illegal material.

"We have identified a solution to prevent this content from being viewed within our stores and we will begin introducing it to our US locations in 2019," a Starbucks spokesperson told NBC News.

It is believed the same policy will apply to New Zealand stores, despite only occurring "rarely".

A spokesperson for YouPorn confirmed the Starbucks ban was real, but just how employees who break the rule will be dealt with isn't known.
