A 'lazy' man's guide: How The Rock host Duncan Heyde lost over 10kg

Duncan Heyde has a new show and a new frame.

The Rock host has just finished a round of Jenny Craig, shedding 11.5kgs in three months just in time for summer.

"I was staring down the barrel of having to buy all new clothes, and I had to make a choice between doing that or getting my shit together and losing some weight," he told Newshub.

"I had done [Jenny Craig] about seven years ago and lost 10kg, so I knew it would be a good reset."

For those that think the only way to shed kilos is to put hours in the gym, it's comforting to hear Heyde's workout plan - the occasional dog walk.

"I'm so lazy I didn't want to do a lot of exercise," he says.

He also didn't want to give up beer and the occasional pub lunch - so it was other things that needed to be addressed.

"One of the things I've noticed having forced portion sizes for three months is you start to notice how big the plates in restaurants are," he says, calling his portion sizes "out of whack".

"My stomach has shrunk now so I can go out for a burger and beers, and get 3/4 of a way through the burger and be full.

"Old me would have nailed all the chips and smashed the burger and be looking around for other people's leftovers."

While many of us gain a little extra fluff over the festive season, Heyde says he's going to try not fall victim to temptation - much.

"I'm going to blow out on Christmas day. I'm going to binge my face off, and then feel horrible on boxing day," he laughs.

"But I'll keep an eye on it for the most part. Like I say, my stomach has shrunk so much now I can't eat as much as before anyway.

"I don't want to get in next year and people at work say, 'oh pastures were greener over Christmas were they?'"

Heyde and his new co-host Jay Reeve began their new Rock Drive show earlier this week.

There are over 18 Jenny Craig centres around the country.
