A UK couple has welcomed their second child after a Facebook group successfully raised the money for in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

Marisha Chaplin, 26, and Jon Hibbs, 29, met while undergoing cancer treatment, and needed IVF to conceive their first daughter Evie, the BBC reports.

But they couldn't afford a second round to conceive a sister for Evie.

Ms Chaplin shared her troubles with members of the Facebook group 'May Babies 2016' and was shocked when they responded by secretly raising £2000 (NZ$3785) to help pay for a second round.

The group revealed the news to Ms Chaplin using a Facebook Live video. An emotional clip from the video shows Ms Chaplin started crying before it was revealed they raised the money.

Ms Chaplin and Mr Hibbs used frozen embryos left over from the previous IVF treatment to conceive Isla, who was born on Saturday (local time).

The members of May Babies 2016 were among the first to know.

"I messaged them on the Saturday morning when I was still pretty much out of it from all the drugs I had from the operation," Ms Chaplin told the BBC.

"It's amazing, it really is. It's better than we ever imagined and we didn't think we would ever get to this point."
