Wanna get really high? Study shows you should vape, not smoke

Vaping cannabis gets you way, way higher than smoking the traditional way, scientists have proved.

Participants in a recent study at the Johns Hopkins Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit in Baltimore had to smoke and vape weed containing three different levels of THC, the ingredient which causes the high.

Over six sessions, 17 otherwise healthy adults smoked and vaped weed with either 10mg of THC, 25mg, or none at all, each time without being told which one they were inhaling.

They were then tested on their cognitive skills, had their blood tested and filled out questionnaires about the effects of each dose.

The blood tests showed when the marijuana contained THC, there was much more of it detected after a vape than a puff. Participants also made twice as many mistakes on the cognitive tests and reported higher levels of dry mouth, itching eyes and paranoia.

Two of the participants vomited after the biggest dose - one after vaping, one smoking. One vaper even hallucinated after the biggest dose, despite it being far weaker than most joints being sold in the US.

"Vaporised and smoked cannabis produced dose-orderly drug effects, which were stronger when vaporised," the study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, said.
