White couple, who identify as black, say they plan to have black children

A German-born white model who darkened her skin with melanin injections has shocked viewers of UK breakfast television after claiming she and her white husband will be able to have black children.

Martina Big, who has been taking melanin injections for two years, appeared on This Morning with her husband Michael to update viewers on her "transformation".

Big told the hosts that not only has she noticed physical changes since taking the injections, but she also claimed a doctor said she'll be able to conceive black children.

When asked by host Holly Willoughby if her doctor had confirmed it, Big responded "Yeah, they said they will be black."

"I'm discussing regularly with my doctor to see if everything is OK, will the baby be OK, is breastfeeding OK, how will the baby look?"

Willoughby interrupted to say she was "trying to think biologically how that is possible".

"If you give birth to a white child will you somehow think it's not connected to you?" she added.

"No, it's a mix of Michael and me," said Martina.

"I'm pretty sure it will be black or milk chocolate or a little bit lighter, it doesn't matter."

Viewers turned to Twitter to voice their shock.

"What on earth? How can the baby be black? DNA??" one confused viewer wrote.

"As I identify as an attack helicopter I'm having surgery to have rotor blades attached to my back and mini guns under my arms #ThisMorning," another joked.

The German glamour model caused a stir in 2017 after appearing on US TV wearing a 'black girls rock' necklace and a tight-fitting top that emphasised breast enlargement surgery she had in an attempt to look like Pamela Anderson.

"Do you think you're a black person?" she was asked, to which Big replied "Yeah... well, 80 percent. I have a lot to learn."

"Being black is not about extensions... it's not just skin deep."
