A Kiwi has won the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People's Choice Award with his image of two male lions sharing a tender moment.
David Lloyd is based in the UK, but hails from New Zealand, and had two photos up for the award.
They were chosen for the final 25 in the LUMIX people's choice awards out of 45,000 submissions compiled by the Natural History Museum.
Mr Lloyd told the National History Museum he was pleased with the win, because it showed a nurturing side to the predators.
"It illustrates the emotion and feeling of animals and emphasises that this is not limited to humans. It is something I think more people need to be aware of for the sake of all animals."
Mr Lloyd said the moment was captured in Tanzania in 2015, when he saw two male lions nuzzling for around 30 seconds, which he said was an unusually long time.
It is believed the two lions in the photo were brothers.
Museum Director Sir Michael Dixon said the photograph captured a perfect moment between the two lions.
"Lions are individuals with complex social bonds, and David's winning picture provides a glimpse into their inner world.
"I hope the empathy and wonder garnered by this image will inspire more people to take action to protect nature."
The Natural History Museum reported he felt privileged to experience the moment and share it with the world.
His other finalist entry was a photo he took of a baby gorilla looking straight down the lens.
Mr Lloyd said he took this photo while he was trekking in South Bwindi, Uganda.
