Recipe: The signature Mexico restaurant margarita you can make at home

In case you didn't know, it's Friday, February 22, which also means it's International Margarita Day - a celebration possibly more important than Christmas.

This fine day celebrates all things margarita, and the rainbow of colours and flavours it can come in. It just goes to show what a little salt, some ice cold tequila, and a wedge of lime can do!

To celebrate we've got our mitts on the super-secret recipe for Mexico restaurant's signature 'Mexico City Margarita'. Never before have they given it out - but it turns out it's super simple.

The Mexico City Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 30ml Lime Juice
  • 15ml Grand Marnier
  • 30ml Jose Cuervo Traditional Tequila
  • 10ml Agave Nectar

Method:

Combine ingredients in a shaker, shake well and serve in a margarita glass, down on the rocks in a sea-salted rimmed glass.

However, if it seems like too much work and you'd rather someone else shook your tequila up for you, all Mexico restaurants are celebrating with discount Frida's margaritas today.

¡Salud!
