The two dogs are from North Carolina, and have amassed 92,700 followers on their shared Instagram page.
The new best friends have been documented sleeping, eating and playing together, and their owners Chelsea and Adam Stipe said they were instant friends.
"They're both pretty crazy and special. They're definitely our entertainment," Chelsea told NBC.
Chelsea said Maverick learnt quickly to adapt how he played to accommodate Charlie.
"Maverick would realise that Charlie would lose the toy sometimes, so he would pick it up and put it back in front of him to re-engage playtime."
