A 22-year-old beauty queen has lost her title after revealing she's pregnant.

Joyce Prado won Miss Bolivia Universe in 2018, but has now been stripped of her crown over a "breach of contract".

It is against Miss Universe rules for winners to get pregnant, or get married while they hold the title.

"Contestants may not be married or pregnant. They must not have ever been married, not had a marriage annulled nor given birth to, or parented a child," says the competition's website.

"The titleholders are also required to remain unmarried throughout their reign."

On Friday, Prado's agency announced on Facebook her crowns had been removed for "reasons that are strictly related to contractual breach".

She will still remain a model with the agency.

On Sunday, Prado posted a photograph of herself and her boyfriend, Rodrigo Giminéz to Instagram.

The couple posed with a tiny onesie, announcing their excitement for their baby.

"I want to share with you that I am the happiest woman in the world because my life is full of love, because next to the man of my dreams we are starting to live the most beautiful stage of our lives," read the post.

The couple has been together four months.

The competition has been called "unfair" and "stupid" by social media users.

"Why is she less worthy to be a beauty queen because of those things?" wrote one woman.

"Beauty contests don't do anything for me, but this is unfair."
