A woman has accused her fiancé of being "barking mad" after he bought her a paw-shaped engagement ring.

The woman posted on Facebook saying she told him to have it melted down and that she was devastated with the proposal, The Sun reports.

"I love my future husband but I forced him to melt this down and turn it into not-a-dog paw," the post said.

She said she "draws the line" at dog-themed jewellery.

It appears the post has since been deleted, but other Facebook users were reportedly disgusted at the ring.

"Like you said, this is a ring you have to wear every day for the rest of your life. It needs to be something you like," one said.

"It's a cute ring, but definitely not for an engagement ring," another wrote.

However, others didn't sympathise with the woman, condemning her for humiliating her fiancé, The Sun reports.

"I'm shaming you for shaming him when he tried to make something niche and specific to your relationship," one wrote.

"It's not a super obvious paw print so I'd wear it with pride."
