Holiday-makers can now fulfill a childhood dream and stay in quarters fit for royalty at the Royal Family's new Scottish bed and breakfast.

Prince William and Prince Harry may be officially off the market, but that doesn't mean all hopes are dashed at living like royalty. Vacationers can now experience the royal treatment at the cosy B&B in Caithness, Scotland, opened by Prince Charles himself.

The heir to the British throne officially opened The Granary Lodge on May 1. Renovated by Charles's foundation, the Prince's Trust, the royal retreat is located on the grounds of the Castle of Mey in the Northern Highlands.

The quintessentially British build features ten bedrooms, two of which are suites, all decorated in different styles. The lodge also features a drawing room (that's an elegant room for entertainment - not a room for drawing).

With views overlooking the North Sea and Orkney, and locally-sourced homemade breakfast every morning (with gluten free and healthy options available), the Granary Lodge promises visitors a regal experience to remember - just without the royalty.

The Queen Mother Queen Elizabeth vacationed at the Castle of Mey each year in August and October after purchasing the castle in 1952.

All proceeds from the Granary Lodge will go back into running the estate.

A two-night stay at the Granary Lodge is priced at around £350 (NZ$678).
