Any trip to Subway is destined to end in a cookie purchase - how can you not when they're looking all gooey and delicious in the glass cabinet. Their conniving placement at the end of the assembly line means it's always when you're stressing over the sauces so you're vulnerable, and susceptible to spontaneous decisions.

Last year alone Kiwis consumed more than 9 million cookies, so fair to say we're fans.

But now the sandwich chain wants you to actually create your own dessert treats, with a new baking movement to whet your appetite.

By creating your own 'cookie hacks', you can use the cult-favorite cookies to inspire new culinary delights, and post it on social media with the hashtag '#subwaycookiehacks'.

Subway regional PR manager Amanda Templeton says they want aspiring bakers to share their best shortcuts.

"Subway cookies have a cult-following and are a favourite for meals, snacks and gifts. But until now,we’ve been missing their best feature:a nifty dessert hack,” she says.

“Our cookies can form the foundation for countless cheesecakes, tarts, trifles and s'more." (Get it?)

Get cracking with the recipe for this chocolate salted caramel tart, below. I tried to make it over the weekend, and while mine was much uglier than this photo, it was very delicious.

Make sure you share it with friends - the combination of cookies, chocolate and cream is not for the faint-hearted.
