H&M confirms date of new store opening in Westfield Newmarket

Popular clothing retailer H&M is set to open a shop in Newmarket's Westfield Mall this year.

The retailer announced on Tuesday the new two-storey offering will open December - the fourth Auckland store and ninth across the country.

Set to be approximately 2300 square metres, the expansive store will showcase apparel and accessories for men, women, kids and babies, as well as the popular H&M Home range, currently only available in Auckland's Commercial Bay store.

"We are thrilled to be a part of the much-anticipated Westfield Newmarket," says country sales manager Daniel Lattemann.

"We are also delighted to be able to finally offer a second Auckland location for our customers to shop H&M Home, as we have seen a such a demand since launching the concept in our Commercial Bay store last year."

Recruitment for approximately 50 employees is reportedly now underway.

H&M first opened in New Zealand in 2016. Today there are seven stores nationwide; Sylvia Park, Commercial Bay, and Botany Town Centre in Auckland, The Crossing in Christchurch, Queensgate in Wellington, Tauranga Crossing, and Chartwell Shopping Centre in Hamilton.

The announced eighth store is set to open in Westfield Riccarton in November.
