New Auckland bar Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq offers scares, thrills and spills

Millennials: we're easily bored, and that means we need to be stimulated at all times.

We're no longer satisfied going our for a quiet drink - we want to be entertained! That's lead to various places with a focus on fun (read: golf, karaoke, etc.) popping up around the city, and none more so than the new offering at Westfield Newmarket, Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq.

Basically a circus inside a bar, Archie Brothers offers a super stimulating, sensory overload experience, complete with dodgem cars, air hockey, arcade games and a shooting stall. There's even a terrifying 'Thrill Ride' which was easily the scariest thing I've ever done and reduced me to a shaking, quivering mess.

Once you've worked up an appetite, there's an American-style diner to indulge in colourful burgers, hotdogs, loaded fries and more. And of course, no night out would be complete without an extravagant, instagrammable cocktail  of which Archie Brothers has an abundance.

At the launch event on Wednesday night, over 300 people packed into the space, and it was like a kid's party, albeit one with a lot of champagne. I have to admit, I think I preferred it when I was there solo - but you can't' have the VIP treatment all the time.

Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq will be open to the public from 12pm September 19 and can be found on Level 3 of the new Westfield Newmarket.
