Tip Top has announced the arrival of a new animal-friendly Trumpet, just in time for summer.

A plant-based and gluten-free version of the fan favourite will be launched on November 4, catering to coeliac, vegan and egg-free consumers.

The Auckland-based ice cream brand confirmed the new addition to its sweet treat repertoire with a Facebook announcement on Tuesday.

"You may have heard through the grapevine about a new gluten-free and vegan Trumpet appearing in stores down south," said the post.

"We're happy to confirm this is on the way to supermarkets, dairies and petrol stations around the country from Monday, November 4."

A Tip Top spokesperson said the ice cream would only be available in boysenberry for the foreseeable future, as they gauge the popularity of the frozen treat.

The Trumpet base will include coconut oil, dairy-free chocolate and Nelson-grown blueberries instead of milk and cream. The gluten-free waffle cone will substitute typical wheat flour with chickpea and potato flour.

Chocolate Trumpets are currently the brand's top-selling flavour, with jelly tip, peanut butter, boysenberry, mint, vanilla, hokey pokey and chocolate salted caramel also available.
