UK woman gets dead father's ashes glued to acrylic wedding day nails

A UK bride has incorporated her late father into her wedding in a very unique way: having his ashes suspended into her acrylic nails, so he could "hold her hand" down the aisle

Charlotte Watson, 26, and her husband Nick bought their wedding forward to try and share it with Charlotte's father Mick, a victim of cancer, but he sadly passed four months before the big day.

The couple told Caters News they included him in proceedings in as many ways as possible, including on pictures on the back of the bride's shoes, in a teddy made from one of his jumpers and by adding his ashes to her acrylic nails.

Charlotte's cousin Kirsty Meakin, a nail artist and YouTuber, suspended the larger ashes in clear acrylic for the occasion.

"I wanted Charlotte to have her father with her is some way or another," Kirsty wrote on Instagram.

"I came up with the idea to use Mick's ashes in her nails. This way he would be there holding her hand as she walks down the aisle."

"This was an emotional day for us both and we are so pleased with how they turned out," Charlotte told Caters News.

"It really felt like he was there.

"It was a unique thing to do but I loved it, I felt like he was able to walk me down the aisle, which I knew was something he really wanted to do."

Charlotte says "the funny side" was wedding guests asking what she was going to do with the nails once they fell off.

"I have of course kept them and now they're framed with decorative crystals all around the frame in my home."
