Good news for practical romantics in Wellington - now you can get married in the comfort of your own home.
From 31 January 2020, Wellingtonians will no longer need to head to the registry office.
Instead, they can book their wedding online and organise for a celebrant to meet them at their home, or another special location.

"We're working hard to ensure New Zealanders can access out services when and where they want," said Jeff Montgomery the Registrar-General of births, deaths and marriages.
"Our marriage services webpage makes it easy to plan your registry ceremony and get your marriage license, freeing up more time to plan your future."
The new at-home weddings will have the same set cost of $90, and run by the same rules as a registry wedding.
The registry offices in Auckland, Manukau and Christchurch will still hold registry ceremonies.
