Happy Friday team! It's almost the weekend, and hopefully, you have some lovely activities planned with friends and family.

If not, fear not! Enjoy the new weekly Newshub guide on where to shop, eat and play this weekend.

If you're in need of a little retail therapy, you could check out the hottest new retail offering in the city: the new General Pants store in Westfield Newmarket.

It's a long-awaited 'bricks and mortar' debut from the Aussie retailer and cult denim authority, which stocks brands such as ksubi, Neuw, Rolla's, Dr Denim, Nudie, Lee, Levi's, Insight, Huffer and Stussy.

You might have seen their giant jeans truck rolling around the country - it was hard to miss.

Once you've spent all this month's paycheck downstairs, you may as well head up to the rooftop and do further damage. The new Westfield Newmarket rooftop precinct is now open and by all accounts, it's all kinds of delicious teamed with some pretty killer views.

The Bavarian, a 400 seat beer hall, has been posting tantalising pics of the beers and meats for drinking and munching on Facebook - might be one for vegans to steer clear of.

If you're in the mood for a little more of an 'east meets west' vibe, you could try White & Wong's for delicious noodles, soups, curries and dumplings.

Fingers crossed for sunny weather for those needing a little burst of Vitamin D.

If you're into all things retro, head along to the Very Vintage Day Out at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland. If the weather packs it in, as is often the case in Auckland, there are two great flicks to choose from: silly but funny Zombieland 2 and woman-lead stripper heist film Hustlers
