A Canadian mummy blogger has defended her daily weed habit, saying it makes her a better mother and it's no different to drinking a glass of wine every evening.
Caitlin Fladager documents her life on Instagram with her husband and two young children. In the controversial post, she sits on a step smoking a joint while holding a sign that reads: "Mom Truth: Weed should be just as acceptable as a glass of wine".
"It's so funny to me how frowned upon marijuana is. No one looks twice when a mom says she enjoys 'mom juice' aka wine, after her kids are in bed," she captioned the picture
"But when a mom says she smokes weed, it's a huge shock."
Fladager, who has over 290,000 followers, says daily smoking makes parenting easier, and helps with her anxiety.
"I have never been the most patient with my two kids. Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good night sleep after I smoke. I wake up well-rested, and with a more clear mind.
"It's okay to smoke weed after your kids go to bed."
The post has racked up over 26,000 likes, with many adding supportive comments for the mother of two.
"Just as acceptable if not more so. Alcohol has many more negative side affects than weed. Love this post," wrote one follower.
"Even though I'm not a mom yet, I'm 100 percent behind this. I don't drink anymore because it negatively affected my life and all I do is smoke now and my life has improved so much.
"I'm so grateful for powerful women like you advocating for marijuana!" wrote another.
"Yes, finally someone said it!" commented another enthusiast.
However, not everyone supported the move.
"If you smoke weed every day or you drink every day this is a problem!", commented one disapproving follower.
"Regardless of whether you have children, if you're responsible for another person you should not drink or smoke. Especially when you're home alone with children."
The recreational use of cannabis was legalised across Canada last year.
