Christmas 'pavlova board' praised as the best dessert for festive season

If dessert is in your hands this Christmas and you're beginning to get nervous about what to serve, don't worry - we've saved the day.

The newest dessert sensation to sweep the nation is the pavlova board, which is sort of like a grazing platter, but for a festive-themed dessert.

Australian cookie company Swish Biscuits shared the clever idea on its Facebook page. Creator Shalini Nestor told 7 News she thought it was a great way of getting everyone to make their own custom pavlovas while also diffusing the age-old debate about appropriate pavlova toppings.

"I came up with the idea because I've seen DIY pavlova bars and stations before, but I hadn't seen it on a grazing board where the toppings are actually on the platter/table, which makes it look really inviting and abundant," she said.

Nestor said she filled the tray with jars of passionfruit, Nutella, homemade raspberry sauce, salted caramel and lemon curd, as well as Lots of fruit, coconut, chocolate and fresh mint.

"Everyone gets to make their own custom pavs just the way they like it."

She also shared her go-to meringue recipe - but if you choose to buy them from the store, we won't judge.

The post has racked up hundreds of likes and comments from fans who promised to adopt it for their own Christmases.

"This is genius!" wrote one commenter.

"Omg! This is THE BEST! Thank you for sharing," wrote another.
