An Auckland mother is outraged after stumbling across an unwelcome discovery while searching for children's Christmas presents online.

The mum, from the Auckland town of Warkworth, says she was looking for Christmas presents when she noticed a dildo had been categorised among children's toys on the popular online retailer and app, Wish.

"I typed 'outdoor kids toys', this place came up, Wish," she told Newshub.

"The only way to have more info on the toy you are interested in is by creating an account and leaving your details - which I didn't [do] because I thought it was both dodgy and annoying."

She says she continued to scroll through the toys before discovering the dildo listed between an airplane model and a brightly-coloured flower decoration.

"I found a dildo amongst all the toys for children," she says.

Newshub found the same sex toy, which boasts "seven thrusting modes" and "seven vibration levels", listed among the children's playthings for NZ$61.

The woman wants the retailer "exposed".

"I want to report this page," she says.

In 2018, Wish was the most downloaded shopping app worldwide. It's the third-biggest e-commerce marketplace in the US by sales this year.

Newshub have contacted Wish for comment.
