Parents take internet modem on road trip instead of 'unappreciative' children

For all the parents struggling to drag their kids away from the internet, take a leaf out of Aussie parents Cassie and Chris Langan's book - and take the internet away from the kids.

The couple enjoyed a "fantastic day" in Warrnambool, a beautiful coastal city along Victoria's Great Ocean Road, treating a very special family member to a "well deserved" break.

"We asked our kids if they would like to go on a day trip to Warrnambool today and were met with the response, 'That's so boring, I don't want to go," Cassie Langan shared in a Facebook post on Sunday.

"Chris and I decided that instead of taking [three] unappreciative kids out, we let the ones who didn't want to go stay at home and took our most overworked family member for a well deserved day out... our modem.

"Modem had a fantastic day not being used by the kids and it was lovely not to listen to constant bickering. The only complaining was Evan being mortified that we took our modem out in public."

The mum shared a number of pictures of the modem living its best life - basking at the beach, enjoying a carnival and indulging in fish and chips, kebabs and beer.

Langan's savage stunt has been well-received on social media, amassing more than 82,000 likes, 36,000 shares and 24,000 appreciative comments.

"I used to do that. Piss them off completely... [I'd] take it to work with me," one woman agreed.

"Bet the kids wished they had come with you," another said.

While some were keen to know how the kids reacted to their parents' initiative, others couldn't wait to try the idea themselves.

"I want to be this petty with our kids," said one enthusiast.

"What if we did this to dad when he's being a brat?" another joked.
