Sex toy company's 'Down-Under Donation Dildo' raises more than $15,000 for Australia bushfire relief

An Australian adult toy company claims to have raised more than AU$15,000 for the bushfire crisis by selling a "Down-Under Donation Dildo".

Brisbane supplier Geeky Sex Toys released the novelty toy last week with a promise that 100 percent of the proceeds would be given to fire recovery.

"Our country has been devastated by bushfires and we need your help," the company stated.

"Buying a sex toy has never felt so good."

The yellow and green silicone toy's base is shaped like Australia and its shaft features a koala decal.

They're being sold for AU$69 each, but the website also allows for extra donations to be added.

On Monday, Geeky Sex Toys announced on Twitter that it had surpassed its initial fundraising goal.

"Good news, everyone! We're so proud to announce that we've now surpassed our initial donation goal of $10,000! We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, we're so happy to be able to support our country in this way!"

The thoroughly Australian dildo isn't the first novel way funds have been raised for the bushfire crisis.

Los Angeles based model Kaylen Ward raised more than US$1 million for bushfire relief by sending photos of herself completely nude to anyone who donated more than US$10.

Celebrities have also donated money to help fire ravaged communities.

Musicians P!nk, Kylie Minogue and Elton John are some of the big names that have donated generously to bushfire relief, as well as actors Chris Hemsworth and Nicole Kidman.

Australia's bushfires have been burning since late last year. More than 10 million hectares have been destroyed in the blazes and 25 people have been killed so far.
