A UK father has been left baffled after his daughter brought home a bizarre leaflet from her school's sex education class, which he says "promotes fetishes".
Year nine pupils at a school in Manchester were given a leaflet entitled '101 Ways to Show Someone You Love Them Without Having Sex'.
The advice included pretty standard suggestions including: "Pick them a flower", "send them a romantic text" and "give them a loving cuddle".
But there were also some wackier ideas, including: "Propose marriage," "organise an 'I love you' message out the back of a plane," and "each suck on the end of a long piece of spaghetti".
The one that really shook Manchester dad Carl Lawrence was number 26: "Suck their toes".
In quotes published in Metro, Lawrence said he was "bewildered" by the leaflet given to his 14-year-old daughter.
"I understand children need to be made aware of the world, but should we really be promoting fetishes in Year Nine? I don't think so.
"Surely they can just enjoy each other's company. They can go for walks, watch a film, go to Burger King, go to the park."
His teenage daughter Emma said she was surprised at the suggestion, especially when a teacher told the laughing class they "shouldn't knock it until they try it".
A spokesperson for Spectrum Community Health, which distributes the leaflets to schools, told the Manchester Evening News saying: "Spectrum's Relationships and Sex Education Programme provides information and support to young people throughout their high school journey, helping them to make safer choices.
"From Year Nine onwards we also introduce our RSE magazine, which is adapted every year in response to feedback from young people, parents and schools."
