A US strip club claims it's "helping" with the coronavirus outbreak by giving away 50,000 bottles of hand sanitiser, a commodity that's been in high demand due to panic-buying.

Las Vegas establishment Little Darlings has announced a promotion in which each paying patron receives a bottle of free anti-viral hand sanitiser for the entire month of March, or while supplies last.

Items such as hand sanitiser, face masks and toilet paper are getting more and more scarce on shop shelves globally, as fears of a COVID-19 pandemic grow.

"An opportunity to help with the coronavirus scare is extremely important to us," one of Little Darling's managers Leanna DaPoint told KSNV.

"Las Vegas is a tourist mecca, and we have to do everything possible to stay virus-free."

Dapoint said the idea "might seem silly", but that the club takes the health of its guests very seriously.

"Being the most popular adult club in Las Vegas, we have to ensure the show will go on!"

Meanwhile, a sister club in Tampa called Deja Vu Showgirls is running a similar promotion, instead offering free face masks.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Deja Vu's general manager has a friend who recently tested positive for coronavirus.

Both clubs have circulated posters that feature a cartoon of a topless woman in a nurse's outfit, wearing a face mask and holding a large syringe.
