A Russian Instagram influencer has announced she's marrying a stepson she raised with a confronting throwback picture of them together when he was a child.
Marina Balmasheva, whose weight loss journey garnered her over 400,000 Instagram followers, was married to her ex-husband Alexey Shavyrin for over a decade.
Now the 35-year-old says she's planning to wed his son, 20-year-old Vladimir, whom she helped raise.
Balmasheva raised further eyebrows last week by posting a picture of the pair together when he was a seven-year-old.
"You never know how life will turn out and when you will meet a person who makes you smile," she captioned the image. "I know that some will judge us, others will support us, but we are happy and wish you to be as well."
She also shared images of the pair cuddling in more recent times.
According to 7 News, the couple are also helping to raise three of Vladimir's five siblings.
Balmasheva's ex-husband Shavyrin reportedly recently told a Russian talk show he only found out about the pair's relationship when he overheard them having sex one night.
"Then I understood that Marina was cheating on me with my son," he revealed.
"A few minutes later she just came and lay down next to me. I didn't tell her a word that night."
Balmasheva and Shavyrin divorced a short time later, with Balmasheva now planning her next wedding.
