Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, winter seem to have sprung upon us with no warning. Weeks of wearing loungewear means that as soon as I was able to venture out into the world again, I was still sporting the light cotton I donned in March and vaguely wondering why I was always freezing.

A good winter wardrobe is essential for staying warm, but also for raising spirits on dreary mornings. But if you're scrambling to buy the perfect boots and jacket without an idea of where to start, never fear - we've brought in an expert.

Superette co-founder Rickie Dee is one of Aotearoa's foremost fashion voices. This year marks 18 years of the brand, with the country's latest store set to open in the new Commercial Bay precinct on June 11.

Dee has given Newshub her top picks for the ultimate winter wardrobe - with no Kathmandu puffer jackets in sight.

Rickie Dee's top winter picks:

Camilla & Marc Cash Pant

Split hems are a huge trend that we're seeing come through this season and it's one that's here to stay! I'm obsessed with these as they're so comfortable. They almost feel like activewear but look polished - the best of both worlds.

Anine Bing Kaia Blazer - sand

You can't go wrong with a relaxed blazer to dress up any outfit. The sand colour is so timeless and a nice switch from black.

Superette LA Knit - black/grey

This knit is so toasty and will keep you warm all winter. The black and grey combo works with any outfit.

Alias Mae Knight Boot

These are the perfect winter boot. The heel isn't too high so they're super comfortable for everyday and dress up any outfit.

Agolde Riley High Rise Straight Crop

This is my current go-to and I struggle to sub it out for another jean. The fit is incredible, they're a great length and I love the washed-out blue.
