It's no secret that pop star Jennifer Lopez seems to defy age in a way most of us can only dream of.

The 51-year-old Hustlers star posted a makeup-free selfie this week, captioning it "morning face". I could only achieve Lopez's "morning face" after emerging from a month-long spa treatment drinking nothing but water and eating only kale and berries, but more power to her.

It is worth remembering that 'Jenny from the block' is now worth approximately US$400 million, meaning the fountain of eternal youth may be a little easier to come by thanks to unlimited laser treatments, peels etc.

But there are a few things that us mere mortals can pick up from J-Lo's daily routine.

Women's Health has done the hard yards and found a selection of Lopez's tips and tricks she's let slip in interviews over the years, so we can get a little of that glow for ourselves.

A strict face-washing routine

Lopez says she's strict about keeping her skin clean and clear. "I always, always wash my face after a workout. That helps keep my pores clean and my skin feeling healthy," she told Hello!. Plus, she washes her face before bed as well, making sure to moisturise. "I never go to bed without taking my makeup off, [and I use] night creams to keepm skin hydrated," she told People.

When she's not working, Lopez says she loves to go makeup-free - we would too, with skin like that.

"I am pretty low-key when it comes to my day-to-day beauty routine. I have to wear a lot of makeup for work, so when I am not working, I tend to wear little to no makeup," she told InStyle in 2018.

SPF and actives every day

The number one way to keep pigmentation and fine lines at bay is SPF every day, something Lopez swears by. She told People she faithfully uses a moisturiser with SPF "every single day. You have to protect your skin".

At night, it's all about the active ingredients, with Lopez revealing she uses glycolic acid-infused products to "get that healthy glow and clear skin".

Luckily glycolic acid is readily available in varying concentrations in many products now.

Sleep it off

Like many celebs, Lopez says the key to getting that "morning face" is waking up from a solid night's slumber. "The number one tip is to always get enough sleep. I can't stress this enough," she told InStyle. "I would love to get nine or 10 hours of sleep, but either way, I always make sure I get at least eight."

Maybe heading to bed a little earlier tonight will mean we can post a morning selfie like Lopez's too.
