Face masks have become a fashion accessory in their own right this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has seen people around the world adopt them into their everyday looks, whether by purchasing sleek silk fabrics or opting for bold, patterned designs.

But if you're struggling with matching your mask to a more high fashion look - worry no more. UK fashion brand Pretty Little Thing has solved the issue with their release of a black bodycon dress with an in-built mask design - and it's proving more popular than the retailer could have ever dreamed.

The unconventional black jersey dress, which retails for £15 (NZ$29), gathered international attention when British model Lottie Moss was spotted in it on the streets of London last month, before it sold out in just hours.

With a mini skirt, the black dress has a turtleneck style top, which covers the mouth and secures with ear straps.

According to the Independent, a spokesperson for the fashion retailer reported the dress is now available again - although only in limited sizes.

More than 160 orders of the dress were made on Wednesday alone.

If you're looking for more of a unique mask or to buy local, many Kiwi fashion retailers also turned to mask making in the wake of a boom during Auckland's COVID-19 alert level 3 lockdown in August.

High fashion designers like Jojo Ross and Annah Stretton have masks available on their websites.
