Resene consultant Mark Aschoff talks to The DIY Experts - Hamish Dodd and Stan Scott, and says that the warm summer temperatures can create issues when starting your home painting projects.

The hot air can make your paint become tacky and can create a textured, uneven finish on your walls.

To ensure a smooth paint finish Mark says it’s essential to keep a wet edge on your paint. That way, you will avoid unsightly lap marks that occur when the paint dries unevenly.

If you can see that the paint is drying too quickly on the walls, it means the air is too hot. Mark suggests if this is the case, you should put down the paint brushes and wait for a cooler day.
