As the year winds up and we head into summer, now is a good time to consider how to keep yourself and your family healthy, particularly considering how 2020 has been such a challenging year in many different ways.

AFT Pharmaceuticals CEO, Hartley Atkinson says vitamin C and vitamin D are important to take in winter because of ills and chills, but at the same time it’s important to support your immune system all year around, especially this year as people get used to living amid a global pandemic.

"This summer looks likely to be a different summer than normal, and people need to be cautious about their health, and make sure they support their immune system," he says.

"A lot of Kiwis in particular are feeling the need to be cautious," Atkinson says. "And I think it’s important to keep being cautious, being hygienic and using hand sanitizer. Also, people who are flying or using public transport should still be wearing masks, and keeping close to health guidelines."

He says supplements are obviously not a substitute for a healthy diet. "You should take care of yourself first and foremost - eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. Use Lipo-Sachets as a supplement, but it shouldn’t replace healthy eating for a healthy lifestyle."

"There are different ways to take the range of Lipo-Sachets. You can take it straight on its own, with fruit juice or water. Lipo-Sachets have also introduced liposomal Vitamin D and Vitamin C in blackcurrant flavour for Adults and an option for children," he says.

Vitamin D supports bone and muscle health and is also great at supporting your immunity. Taking vitamin D supplements allows you to replenish your vitamin D levels heading into summer, while still remaining sun safe. It is also suitable for people with darker skins (high melanin pigment acts as a natural sunscreen) and those who have limited exposure to sunlight.

Who benefits from taking vitamin C?

·         Those who want to support their immune system

·         Those feeling the effects of winter ills and chills

·         Those who are feeling run down, tired and stressed

·         Those participating in strenuous exercise and leading very active lifestyles

·         People who are travelling

·         Smokers and those who consume high levels of alcohol

·         People with pre-existing conditions for which vitamin C is recommended as a complementary therapy

·         Those living in urban areas (due to elevated levels of pollution)

Atkinson points out Vitamin C Lipo-Sachets provide 80% higher absorption than standard vitamin C* and Vitamin D Lipo-Sachets also deliver superior absorption to standard vitamin D**.

Lipo-Sachets are free from alcohol, gluten, GMO, contain no added sugars, artificial flavours or colours and are suitable for vegetarians.
