The New York Post has come under fire after 'slut-shaming' and exposing the name of a paramedic who has been trying to 'make ends meet' by sharing nudes on OnlyFans.

The article posted Saturday described the 23-year-old as a "cash-strapped" paramedic who has reverted to selling "erotic photos and videos of herself".

OnlyFans is a platform where users can subscribe to an account to access photos for a fee starting at US$11.99 a month.

In response to the article, Lauren Kwei wrote on a Go Fund Me page she had been contacted by the newspaper for an interview and "begged" the reporter to keep her anonymous.

"Most of the quotes in that article are me defending myself to this reporter," she wrote on Monday.

"He did not include that I begged him to remain anonymous (which was never agreed to) and that I told him my safety and job were going to be at risk if he posted this article. He truly did not care."

Kwei added that the reporter went on to call her employer and her mother.

"I could be jobless in the middle of a pandemic all because someone tipped the NY Post that I had an OnlyFans," she tweeted on Sunday.

"I will probably lose my job and my name will be blacklisted from all NYC EMs."

Twitter users were quick to defend her, accusing the NY Post of "slut-shaming".

"I hope she capitalises on a perfect defamation lawsuit, hope she makes y'all pay for slut shaming a front line paramedic and publishing this without her permission."

Others defended the New York post and said the newspaper did not slut-shame anyone.

"1. How do you know she didn't give them permission? 2. It's not defamation if it's true. 3. Where did they shame anyone?"

The Go Fund Me page has raised over US$44,000 on Tuesday.
