Children's toys have come a long way in the past couple of decades, and nowadays you'll be able to trawl the jam-packed store aisles to find a toy perfect for just about any theme.

But the internet is asking if one retailer has potentially taken it too far, after a shopper spotted a poo-themed game called 'Flush n' Frenzy' at The Warehouse.

"On sale at The Warehouse near you," the Reddit user captioned the picture, posted in the New Zealand forum.

According to the Mattel website, The 'Flush n' Frenzy' game involves "one plunger, some poop, and fast reflexes".

Players have to flush a toy toilet handle to roll the die, and then when a number comes up must "plunge the toilet" that number of times.

"But be careful, after any given push of the plunger the poop may come flying out of the toilet. The first player to grab the poop earns a token," the disturbing description reads.

While toilet humour can be divisive at the best of times, Reddit users all seemed to sit firmly in the 'disgusted' category,

"Even my 11 yo daughter who was with me said 'what the F?'" the original Reddit poster added.

"Wait WTF is this teaching kids? To grab poop?" one person asked.

"Grim that is," added another.

"Between this and those soft toys that pretty much twerk...this is going to be an interesting generation of humans," another wrote.

The game retails at The Warehouse for $29.
