There are a myriad of ways a partner can support you if you've gained weight and you're feeling unhappy with your body. But one US husband's way of encouraging his wife to lose weight is... not it.
TikTok user Mike posted a video this week explaining how he noticed his wife has "gained just a little bit of weight lately".
So he decided to surprise her with a 'sweet' birthday gift.
"What I decided to do was, for her birthday, I bought her a really, really nice dress - but just a couple of sizes too small," he recounted.
"I put a note on it that said 'I'm really looking forward to seeing you in this', thinking, you know, it might motivate her."
Gentlemen - do not do this. But Mike's wife had the last laugh.
"Well anyway, I came home from work the other day and I saw a pack of condoms that were way, way too big for me on the counter," he said.
"It had a note on it, it said 'I'm really looking forward to seeing you in these.'"
The video has racked up over 18 million views and over 30,000 comments - but if Mike thought he was going to be congratulated on his gift-giving, he was wrong.
"She should have given you divorce papers," one person wrote.
"You really deserved it, man," another wrote.
"Why would you even do that? If she gained weight it's not yours to control," wrote another.
"You hurt her feelings. You should love her no matter if she's gained weight, just like she's loved you," added another.
We're not here to cast aspersions on someone else's relationship. But there is a chance these people shouldn't be together - just a thought.
