Anyone knows that if you walk into a meeting, interview or first day at work in a killer outfit, you're much more likely to feel the confidence to walk the walk and talk the talk.
That's the ethos behind Dress for Success, an Auckland-based charity that works with women in the community to provide them with professional attire and a support network on their journey to economic independence.
Every year the charity holds its annual 'Great Designer Dress Sale' to raise funds and allow fashion lovers to grab designer looks at rock-bottom prices.
TV stylist for Three, Sarah Stuart, is an ambassador for the charity and after having the "privilege" of a sneak peek at the stock, says shoppers are in for a treat.
"My top picks were a beautiful Isabel Marent knit sweater and a divine dress by Armani," she tells Newshub.
"I spied most of our New Zealand designer favourites like Kate Sylvester, Yvonne Bennetti, Trelise Cooper and World."
Each week Stuart features a different local designer when dressing the stars of The Project and this week will be dressing host Kanoa Lloyd in different outfits from the sale range.
"[Lloyd] is open-minded and has a playful approach to fashion. We thought the sale is a good opportunity to promote such a worthy cause," she says.
Lloyd says she knows first hand that the right outfit can work wonders.
"Dress for Success does such lovely work. I know that the right clothes can make you feel confident and strong and cool, even if you're shy and freaking out on the inside," she says.
"Everyone deserves to feel a million bucks."
Lloyd says one of the "great joys and privileges of my life is getting put in clothes by Sarah".
"If I could wave a magic wand I would send her to everybody's house every morning so she can help them feel amazing every day."
We can't quite manage that - but we can supply you with Stuart's top picks from the Dress for Success sale, for your personal shopping wishlist:
This brand new Kate Sylvester blue dress
This Yvonne Bennetii stripe jacket and red Armani dress
These Giovanni Giusti leather full-length boots
The Dress for Success sale will run at Studio 230, 230 Ponsonby Road on Friday, April 16 from 5-8.30pm (ticket entry only) and 10am to 4pm Saturday 17 and Sunday 18.
