Jacinda Ardern has shared the special Mother's Day card she's received from daughter Neve.

The touching handmade gift was posted to Facebook by the Prime Minister earlier on Sunday - along with a message to Jacinda's own mother.

"To mummy, Happy Mother's [Day]," Neve's message read. "I love you and going to the water park. Love Neve."

The card was decorated with a flower; the stem made out of a popsicle stick, paper and glitter, and the petals made from bottle caps.

"To all the people who have the role of 'mum' in someone's life, I hope you too experience the genuine love and appreciation that it is to be held up alongside the local playground with sprinklers (my toddlers current favourite thing... even though it's May)," Ardern wrote.

"And to my mum, I appreciate you more everyday. Happy Mother's Day!"

Ardern's followers took the time to wish her a Happy Mother's Day in return.

"Happy Mother's Day Jacinda, hopefully you get spoilt by your family," one person replied.

"Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's, Grandmother's and carer's looking after our children, who are our future."
