Pizza, chips, dumplings: Kiwi Olympian Lewis Clareburt reveals what he eats in the Olympic village post-competition

Once the Olympic competition is over, eating for 'fuel' goes out the window for Kiwi athlete Lewis Clareburt.

The New Zealand swimmer has become something of a TikTok sensation during his time in the village with his behind-the-scenes snippets of Olympic life racking up millions of views.

On Saturday Clareburt shared a TikTok showing what a day on his plate looked like after missing out on a medal in the men's 400m individual medley.

"Cheat month starts now," he captioned the video, which has racked up over 4.7 million views.

In the clip, he makes his way around the dining hall to grab chocolate, pizza, chips, fried chicken and dumplings from various stations, before showing sadly he had no room for a roll from the ample bread station.

He then covered it all in ketchup - including the dumplings, which one commenter pointed out was "a crime".

"I apologise for the damage I have caused," Calreburt replied.

"This is the video I wanted - none of that pre-comp dieting stuff," one fan wrote.

"This is basically what I eat every day but that's why I'm not an Olympian," another joked. "Well deserved - enjoy!"

Through social media, we've seen a small glimpse into how Olympic athletes have been fuelling their bodies while in Japan, with over 700 menu options available to choose from in the dining hall.

According to Tatler, each item is accompanied by nutritional information such as calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates, sodium, and salt per serving.

An NPR report revealed competitive sportspeople usually consume around 2000-8000 calories a day, fuelling their bodies with a mix of macro and micronutrients.
