A recall has been issued for a kids' food item sold at Countdown, FreshChoice and SuperValue outlets throughout Aotearoa due to the product potentially containing plastic.

Whole Kids Smoothie Drops of the Berry, Banana and Coconut Milk flavour with a best before date of August 12, 2022 is being recalled.

Any customer who has purchased one of these packets is advised to take it back for a refund from where they bought it or simply throw it away.

However, despite the danger that comes from swallowing plastic, there are no reports yet of anyone yet suffering from doing so with the Smoothie Drops.

"We have received no reports of associated injury, but if you or a child in your care has consumed any of this product and have any concerns about your health, seek medical advice," says Jenny Bishop of the Ministry for Primary Industries.

The product is being recalled by Nourish Foods Pty Ltd in Australia as well as New Zealand.
