A woman from Barcelona who drinks her own period blood and applies it to her face says it improves her health and wellbeing.

Jasmine Alicia Carter, 30, paints artwork with her menstrual blood on TikTok and coaches women to understand and reclaim the sacredness of their menstrual cycle.

"Your menstrual blood is pure medicine," Carter says.

She collects fresh period blood with a menstrual cup and pours it into a container, before applying it with a brush or her fingers as a 'period face mask'.

Carter either has a sip of the menstrual cup and applies the rest on her face or she drinks the whole thing.

She says period blood is full of stem cells and made mainly of nutrients that women need such as iron, protein, copper and sodium.

"Our bodies always have all that they ever need," Carter says in a TikTok.

She claims it helps her skin as well as benefits her health, but she warns that women must be in good health to drink their blood.

"Your period blood won't be as good if you're eating junk food everyday, for example, because your nutrients will be poor. But when you're in tune with your period, then you know how much you need to drink and can feel the benefits," Carter said, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Carter is a self-appointed Sacred Women's Empowerment Mentor and hopes women can learn to embrace their period.

"I don't expect everyone to be obsessed with their period blood the way I am. But I do encourage women to collect and observe their menstrual blood to see what it can tell them about their health."
