As we get ready to head into winter, it's equally important to make sure our homes are also ready to face the colder temperatures.

Interior Designer Hamish Dodd speaks to AM about the best Resene products to use to get the most out of your home this winter. Making sure you're up to date on any DIY projects before winter arrives is key to ensure your home is well protected over winter.

Getting started:

  • If the weather is getting a little chilly, add Resene Wintergrade Additive to your paint to help it dry down to three degrees. This will help you get the last of your projects finished.

  • This time of year is also where mould problems occur with houses locked up and wet air unable to escape from areas like kitchens and bathrooms. Use Resene Moss & Mould Killer to treat any mould areas that do occur.

  • If there are a few showers lurking about, use Resene Umbrella Additive – it will help give the paint early protection against light showers so you can get your paint job done.

  • If you have areas around your home that are slippery when wet, like decks or stair edges, use Resene Non-Skid Deck & Path on these surfaces. This product has a comfortable grit texture that will give your shoes something to grab on and reduce the risk of slipping. Choose a light colour on stair edges, like Resene Pompeii so the area is more visible when the light isn't as good.
